She was adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage at 6 months old by Angelina Jolie on July 6, 2005. Her then-partner Brad Pitt legally adopted her in January 2006.

Her birth mother, who was initially considered dead, came forward in 2017 seeking to establish contact with her long-lost daughter.

As a child, Zahara became known for her infamous ‘death stare’ in paparazzi pictures.

She launched the Zahara Collection jewelry line with Robert Procop in 2019. All proceeds were donated to the House of Ruth Shelters which assists battered women and children with transitional housing.
