Workout clothes are breaking out from the confines of the gym and are getting firmly established in the world of fashion. Net-a-Porter, the online retailer that made shopping for designer apparel as easy as going online, is shifting its focus to chic athletic clothes. Come July 9, the site is launching a new activewear extension, aptly named Net-a-Sporter.
Although Net-a-Porter already carries a small selection of sportswear, including pieces from brands such as Nike and Adidas by Stella McCartney, their new fitness channel will be home to 37 accessible and luxury fitness brands. Expect pieces by Monreal London, Ballet Beautiful, WearGrace, and even tech accessories from Jawbone. Additionally, Net-a-Sporter will carry exclusive fitness capsule collections by designers like Zimmermann and Lisa Marie Fernandez.
Always a trendsetter, Net-a-Porter has even created an entirely new category of activewear that will be sold on their new launch: après sport, or clothing for all the women who go straight from their fitness classes to meet their friends (guilty!).
